Eleven Martyred in Suspected Suicide Blast in D.I. Khan

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: (Staff Reporter) – At least 11 people, including a two-year-old child and two women, were martyred in a suspected suicide attack in the Darazinda area of Dera Ismail Khan.

According to sources, the explosion took place at the anti-smuggling Aman Mela Police Check Post on the D.I. Khan-Quetta Road.

Sources said an explosives-laden vehicle was deliberately rammed into the check post, causing a powerful blast that left police and customs personnel as well as civilians among the casualties.

More than 30 people, including customs officials, police personnel and civilians, were also injured in the attack.

Sources said several of the injured are in critical condition, raising fears that the death toll could increase.

They further said the attack on the anti-smuggling check post points to possible links between terrorist and criminal elements, with security forces and civilians once again being targeted by militants described by authorities as Khwarij.
