DPM Ishaq Dar and UK’s David Lammy Discuss Enhanced Bilateral Ties
Dar expresses eagerness to collaborate on climate action, youth opportunities, and trade

ISLAMABAD- On Wednesday, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar held a meeting with David Lammy, the UK Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Affairs. During the discussion, they reviewed the full scope of bilateral relations and addressed regional issues of mutual concern.
As highlighted in a press release from the Foreign Office, the Deputy Prime Minister underscored the importance of a strong partnership between Pakistan and the UK. He stressed the need to advance the broad bilateral agenda and promote regional peace and stability. Dar also commended the contributions of British-Pakistanis in enhancing ties between the two countries.

Deputy Prime Minister Dar expressed a strong desire to work with Foreign Secretary Lammy on joint issues, including climate action, creating opportunities for youth, and boosting trade and investment. He reiterated Pakistan’s goal of transforming their longstanding relationship into a more robust strategic partnership.
Foreign Secretary Lammy extended his congratulations to DPM Dar on Pakistan’s election to the UN Security Council and assured continued UK support during Pakistan’s term. The two officials also agreed to stay in close contact as they prepare for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting scheduled for October 2024.
