Karachi Police File Murder Charges Against Female Driver After Fatal Karsaz Road Accident; Two Dead, Three Injured as Investigation Continues
Karachi-On Tuesday, Karachi police announced that they had Filed Murder charges against a female driver involved in a fatal accident on Karsaz Road the previous day.
The incident, which occurred on Monday evening, involved a speeding SUV that resulted in the deaths of two individuals, including a woman, and left three others injured.
Traffic Police Deputy Inspector General Ahmad Nawaz Cheema informed Dawn that the woman was driving a Toyota in an “extremely negligent manner.” Cheema explained that the vehicle struck a motorcycle while making a turn from Tipu Sultan Road onto the service road of Muslim League House. The SUV then collided with two additional motorcycles before overturning after hitting a parked car on the road.
Five individuals were injured in the accident, with two of them later dying from their injuries at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC).
The District East police spokesperson confirmed today that a first information report (FIR) has been filed against the female driver involved in the crash.

The spokesperson added that the woman was arrested last night and has been transferred to the police investigation unit for further inquiry.
The police reported that the woman’s medical examination has been completed, but the hospital has yet to provide the report.
They also noted that the investigation unit is actively working on the case, and additional information can be obtained from the office of the District East Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) for Investigation.
As per the complaint, Arif received a call around 6:45 p.m. on Monday, informing him that his brother, Imran Arif, who was riding a motorcycle with his daughter, Amna Arif, had been involved in an accident.
When he arrived at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), he learned that Natasha Danish, driving a Toyota Land Cruiser, had rear-ended his brother’s motorcycle.
The FIR also mentioned that Abdussalam, son of Mohammad Ishaq, who was a passenger on the motorcycle, was injured in the accident. It further stated that Imran and his daughter sustained severe injuries and later succumbed to them.
In a separate statement, the spokesperson for the District East Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) dismissed reports circulating on social media that suggested the police were slow in taking action as they typically do.
The spokesperson emphasized that the police promptly arrested the suspect and registered an FIR against her.
The statement also clarified that, suspecting the woman driver might be intoxicated, the police followed standard procedures and sent her to a hospital for a medical examination.
It added that Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) was responsible for providing the medical report, and the hospital has been formally requested to do so.
The spokesperson further explained that the arrested individual must be presented in court within 24 hours of arrest, and the investigation team is working towards this.
The District East police stressed that no one is above the law, and from the moment of the incident until now, legal procedures have been followed without hesitation.
The statement assured that the police’s investigation wing would submit a charge sheet based on merit as the case progresses, adding that the loss of two precious lives would not be taken lightly, and no negligence would occur in the investigation.
