Congress Demands Rajnath Singh Resignation Over Sindoor
Rajnath Singh Resignation Row Deepens as Congress Slams Government Over Hidden Soldier Deaths
CONGRESS – (Web Desk) – India’s main opposition party, Congress, has called for Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s resignation. They accuse him of misleading parliament about soldiers who died during last year’s conflict with Pakistan.
The row erupted after New Delhi finally named six armed forces personnel who lost their lives during “Operation Sindoor.” This came more than a year after the fighting ended.
The names appeared on the National War Memorial website on June 26. It marked the government’s first official confirmation of military deaths from the conflict.

Congress leaders wasted no time reacting to the delayed disclosure.
Retired Colonel Rohit Chaudhry, who heads Congress’s Ex-servicemen Department, spoke at a press conference. He said Modi’s government had hidden the truth from the public for over a year.
Retired Wing Commander Anuma Acharya joined him in condemning the delay.
Chaudhry accused the ruling BJP of using soldiers as political props while campaigning in their name. He pointed out that BJP lawmakers had applauded when Singh claimed no soldiers had been lost.

In this case, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh stated that nobody was martyred during Operation Sindoor. But, the government itself mentioned the names of six personnel.

He called the moment proof of a deeper pattern of dishonesty.
The pressure on Singh grew further this week. Congress MP K.C. Venugopal filed a formal privilege motion against the defence minister.
He argued Singh’s earlier parliamentary statements amounted to misleading the house. Venugopal said he had written directly to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.
Withholding information from parliament, he stressed, counts as a breach of privilege.
The government has pushed back firmly. Officials said the nation honored fallen soldiers at the earliest possible moment.
They rejected claims that Singh ever denied military losses outright. His original remarks, the defence ministry said, aimed to counter false rumors that Air Force pilots had been killed.
They were not meant to deny the six deaths altogether.
The controversy ties back to a tense military standoff in May last year. Fighting broke out after India accused Pakistan of involvement in a deadly Pahalgam attack.
The attack, in occupied Kashmir, killed 26 people. Pakistan strongly denied any role in it.
India responded by suspending the Indus Waters Treaty. Pakistan retaliated by closing its airspace and shutting the Wagah border.

Overnight strikes by India on May 6 triggered a fierce response. Pakistan’s air force downed several Indian jets in return.
Both countries exchanged strikes on military bases. A ceasefire was finally brokered with US involvement on May 10
