CDWP – (Web Desk) – Pakistan’s planning minister Ahsan Iqbal chaired a high-level CDWP meeting where 15 development projects worth Rs34.74 billion were approved across key sectors including IT, health, energy and roads.
Nine major projects totalling Rs431.022 billion were referred to ECNEC for final approval.
On the technology side, the government gave the green light to an e-sports arena network in universities, a Robotics Centre of Excellence, and a Geo AI Development and Innovation Hub. The National Artificial Intelligence Programme was forwarded to ECNEC for further review.
A National Emerging Technologies Data Centre was also recommended for establishment under the approved plan.
In the health sector, CT scan and MRI machines will be provided to DHQ and Teaching Hospitals across Azad Jammu and Kashmir under a project worth Rs5.48 billion.
Smart electricity meters will be installed across Lahore to modernise the city’s power distribution network.
The government also approved exploration of radioactive minerals in the Marwat Range, worth Rs1.44 billion.
