Bushra Bibi Granted Interim Bail in 13 D-Chowk Protest Cases Until February 7

Islamabad – Bushra Bibi, wife of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, was granted interim bail by the Islamabad Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in connection with 13 cases related to the D-Chowk protest that took place on November 26. Judge Tahir Abbas Supra approved the bail against surety bonds of Rs. 5,000 each and ordered the police to submit all relevant records by February 7.

In addition to the D-Chowk protest cases, Bushra Bibi was also granted interim bail in the Rangers’ accident case, with the same conditions. During the hearing, Judge Supra expressed dissatisfaction with the defense counsel’s conduct, particularly criticizing their requests for VIP protocol. “You demand VIP protocol everywhere, but this is not possible. Prepare your files properly before coming to court,” the judge remarked.

Bushra Bibi is facing multiple charges across several police stations, including three cases at the Secretariat Police Station, two cases each at Margalla, Karachi Company, and Ramna Police Stations, and one case each at Tarnol, Kohsar, Aabpara, and Khanna Police Stations.

The judge also reprimanded the defense team for asking Bushra Bibi to sign and thumbprint blank papers, stating, “The accused must sign and thumbprint the court orders, not blank sheets.”

Earlier in the day, Bushra Bibi visited the Islamabad High Court for biometric verification in connection with her acquittal request in the Toshakhana-II case. Both she and her husband, Imran Khan, had filed acquittal applications on Monday. After completing the biometric process, Bushra Bibi left the premises.

The proceedings for these cases are ongoing, with the next hearing scheduled for February 7.

Bushra Bibi Expresses Loss of Faith in Justice System After Imran’s Imprisonment

Following the approval of her interim bail application, Bushra Bibi, wife of PTI founder Imran Khan, expressed a loss of trust in Pakistan’s justice system. Speaking to Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Tahir Abbas Supra, she stated, “After what happened to the founder of PTI and us, the trust in the law has been lost. The trust in the courts has been lost.”

In response, Judge Supra reassured her, emphasizing that the justice system is still functioning. “If it ends, then society will end,” he said, acknowledging Bushra Bibi’s regular court appearances.

However, Bushra Bibi remained critical, citing instances where judges appeared ill but still proceeded with sentencing, adding, “There is law in the country, but no justice.” She also voiced concerns over the imprisonment of Imran Khan and the ongoing violations of the constitution.

After the exchange, she was instructed by the judge to stay involved in her legal matters before departing for Adiala Central Jail.
