Punjab Cabinet Approves ‘Asaan Karobar Finance Scheme’ to Boost SMEs & Economic Growth
The scheme aims to provide vital financial assistance to entrepreneurs

Lahore – In a significant move to promote economic growth and support small and medium enterprises (SMEs), the Punjab Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister (CM) of Punjab, approved the much-anticipated ‘Asaan Karobar Finance Scheme’ on Tuesday. The scheme aims to provide vital financial assistance to entrepreneurs across various sectors in the province.
Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari, addressing the media, revealed that the scheme will offer interest-free loans of up to 30 million rupees to entrepreneurs. The initiative is designed to support a wide range of industries, including agriculture, with a focus on job creation, boosting exports, and fostering overall economic development in Punjab.
The scheme is expected to be a game-changer for SMEs, which play a crucial role in the province’s economy. Bukhari confirmed that the application process would be launched soon, providing an accessible avenue for entrepreneurs to secure funding and expand their businesses.
In addition to the finance scheme, the cabinet also approved the Hindu Marriage Act, a landmark legislation aimed at regulating marriage laws for the Hindu community in Punjab. This decision marks a significant step toward ensuring legal recognition and protection for Hindu marriages.
To further enhance road safety, the Punjab Cabinet approved a province-wide speed limit of 60 km/h for motorcycles. The move is expected to reduce accidents and fatalities, ensuring safer roads for the public.
Earlier this week, Maryam Nawaz Sharif announced a new initiative, offering free 3-marla plots to deserving families. Furthermore, the Chief Minister also inaugurated the Zahra Homes/Maskan Ravi Scheme in Kala Shah Kaku under the ‘Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar’ program, providing interest-free loans of up to Rs1.5 million to families to help them build their own homes. The initiative has already benefited 100 families in just two and a half months, showcasing rapid progress and success.
