Asad Qaiser nominated PTI Chairman following deadly protests in Islamabad
Qaiser’s appointment comes at a critical time for the party, which is facing internal unrest.
ISLAMABAD: In the wake of the deadly protests in Islamabad, Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has been removed from his position as the Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). The decision was made on Thursday amid growing political turmoil within the party.
In a major leadership shift, Asad Qaiser has been nominated as the new Chairman of PTI. Qaiser’s appointment comes at a critical time for the party, which is facing internal unrest and public backlash following the violence in the capital.
The leadership changes extend beyond Khan’s removal, as earlier today, both Salman Akram Raja and Hamid Raza announced their resignations from key positions within the party. Raja stepped down as PTI’s Secretary General, while Raza resigned from his role in the PTI Core Committee and his National Assembly seat.
