Salman Akram Raja resigns as PTI’s secretary general
The resignation marks a significant development within PTI, as the party continues to navigate internal challenges and external pressures.
Islamabad: Salman Akram Raja has resigned from his position as the Secretary General of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), citing “personal reasons” for his decision. Raja informed PTI Chairman Imran Khan of his resignation, adding that while he steps down from the role, he will continue to serve the party in a legal capacity.
Raja, a senior lawyer, was appointed as PTI Secretary General in September 2024 on the instructions of Imran Khan. His resignation comes amid ongoing political challenges for the party, and reports indicate that Raja faced criticism for his perceived lack of involvement in PTI’s final call protest in Islamabad on November 24, which was a key event for the party.
Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, the PTI spokesperson, confirmed receiving the resignation letter from Raja but stated that it had not been accepted yet. “Salman Akram Raja’s resignation has not been accepted at this point,” Gohar told a private news channel, noting that the decision was still under consideration.
