Death toll climbs to 14 in Kallar Kahar wedding bus crash

More than 50 people injured,

KALLAR KAHAR (Dunya News) – At least 14 people were killed and more that 50 sustained injuries when a passenger bus overturned on the Motorway II near Kallar Kahar on late Sunday night, Dunya News reported.

According to details, the accident occurred when brakes of the bus failed near Kallar Kahar, broke the road divider and collided with vehicles on other side of the road before turning turtle.

The ill-fated bus was carrying wedding guests from Islamabad to Rawalpindi. Police and rescue teams reached the spot and shifted the dead and the injured to a hospital. Women and children were among the dead and the injured.

Rescue teams informed that three women were among the dead. They also said that the death toll may rise further and several injured persons were in critical condition.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his profound grief over the tragic incident and ordered the health authorities to extend all possible relief to the injured.
