Pakistan and Iran Football Federation Sign Deal to Boost Youth Futsal

New three-year agreement signed in Baku aims to share Iran’s futsal skills and help Pakistan grow young talent

BAKU – The Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) has signed a cooperation agreement with the Iran Football Federation to work together on youth football and futsal. The deal brings the two neighbouring countries closer in sport.

The agreement was signed on October 18 at a hotel in Baku, Azerbaijan. PFF President Syed Mohsen Gilani and Iran Football Federation President Mehdi Taj put their names to the paper.

Both leaders said the deal builds on the long friendship between the people of Pakistan and Iran.

The plan covers youth development, futsal, coach education, technical exchange and national team matches. The goal is to raise playing standards and give more chances to players and coaches in both countries.

Iran is one of the strongest futsal nations in Asia and a regular name in world competition. Its experience in player growth and coaching can help Pakistan build a stronger futsal system.

The link is already working. Iranian coaches Ali Imani and Fatemeh Sharif Noghabi currently lead Pakistan’s men’s and women’s futsal teams. The new deal gives this bond a clearer shape.

For youth football, both sides plan friendly matches, joint training camps and invitational tournaments. They will also share ideas on finding talent, running academies, sports science and sports medicine. PFF youth coaches may join Iranian courses and programmes.

In futsal, the teams may play friendlies and hold camps together. Courses for coaches and referees are also planned. Iranian futsal experts may travel to Pakistan, and Iran will share its know-how on running national leagues.

The deal also leaves room for exchanges in grassroots football, women’s football, fitness training, refereeing and football facilities. The two federations may even arrange friendlies for senior, youth, Olympic and futsal teams.

The agreement runs for up to three years. The exact activities and work plans will be decided by both federations later.

Football fans in Pakistan hope the partnership will turn friendship into real progress on the pitch.
