Gilgit-Baltistan – The WAPDA Diamer Sports Gala 2026 will be held at Rohini Polo Ground in Chilas on November 1. The event is part of the Gilgit-Baltistan Independence Day celebrations.
A review meeting was held to check the preparations. The Additional Director of the Diamer Bhasha Dam Project, District Diamer, chaired the meeting.
The General Secretary of Social Safeguard attended the meeting. Major Tariq Mahmood, Assistant Commander Headquarters, also took part. Other WAPDA officials, heads of local institutions and sports officers were present too.
The meeting looked at the plans for inter-school and inter-college events. Students from partner educational institutions will compete in cricket, football, volleyball and other games.
Some non-sports activities will also be part of the gala. These include recitation and vocabulary contests, along with career counseling sessions for students.
It was decided that the opening ceremony will start at 2 pm on November 1 at Rohini Polo Ground. A polo match will follow the ceremony.
The administration told all concerned departments to finish their work on time. Teams were asked to check the ground, seating, security and other needs.
The participants also talked about working together to improve sports in schools and colleges. They agreed that strong teamwork between local institutions and WAPDA can give young people more chances to learn and play.
The gala is expected to bring students, families and sports lovers together. It will also show the culture and love for sports in the Diamer region.
