Fatima Sana Leads Pakistan Women to Asian Games Bronze Medal Victory
NISSIN, Japan: (Sports Desk) –Pakistan’s women’s cricket team won the bronze medal at the 2026 Asian Games after defeating Bangladesh by 31 runs in the third-place playoff at Korogi Sports Park on Tuesday.
Batting first, Pakistan posted 145 for eight in their allotted 20 overs. Captain Fatima Sana played a key role with a brisk 45 off 30 deliveries, hitting three fours and three sixes, while Gull Feroza added 31 runs.
Chasing 146, Bangladesh struggled to maintain the required scoring rate and finished their innings at 114 for seven after 20 overs. Pakistan’s off-spinner Umm-e-Hani produced an impressive spell, claiming three wickets for just 10 runs.
Sharmin Akhter offered resistance for Bangladesh with an unbeaten 46, but her effort was not enough to prevent Pakistan from securing the bronze medal.
The result gave Pakistan their third medal in women’s cricket at the Asian Games. The team previously won gold medals at the 2010 and 2014 editions.
Pakistan had missed out on a medal at the previous Asian Games in Hangzhou, where Bangladesh defeated them in the bronze-medal playoff.
The latest victory also ended a 12-year wait for Pakistan to return to the women’s cricket podium at the Asian Games.
