PCB Announces First-Ever Central Contracts For U19 Players

ISLAMABAD: (Sports Reporter) – The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to introduce central contracts for Pakistan Under-19 players for the first time, rewarding their performances and encouraging the development of emerging cricketers, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The decision was announced after PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi met the Under-19 squad following their impressive tour of England, where Pakistan won the four-match one-day series 3-1.

During the meeting, Naqvi spoke individually with the young players and appreciated their efforts. He also encouraged them to maintain their hard work and continue developing their cricketing careers.

Under-19 head coach Shahid Anwar welcomed the introduction of central contracts at the junior level, saying the initiative would provide additional motivation to young cricketers.

Shahid Anwar said recognition for strong performances helps build confidence among young players, while the PCB chairman’s encouragement provides valuable support to both the squad and coaching staff.

Under-19 captain Farhan Yousuf also highlighted the benefits of the development camps organised in Multan. He said the camps conducted over the past two years had delivered positive results and played an important role in improving the players.

Farhan said meeting Mohsin Naqvi was encouraging for him and his teammates, adding that receiving central contracts at the Under-19 level for the first time had brought great happiness to the young players.

The PCB’s move marks a new step in recognising junior-level performances and providing greater institutional support to Pakistan’s emerging cricketers.
