LAHORE: (Finance Reporter) – Federal Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik said Sunday that the government was closely monitoring global oil prices and petroleum supplies amid the tense international situation.
Speaking to the media in Lahore, the minister said international developments were affecting both oil prices and the availability of fuel, with the government taking necessary steps to maintain supplies across the country.
Ali Pervaiz Malik said fuel had become scarce in France, but added that ensuring an uninterrupted supply of petroleum products to the people remained the government’s responsibility.
He said the government would take measures to keep fuel affordable while making decisions in the energy sector according to the national interest and the country’s requirements.
The petroleum minister said authorities were continuously monitoring international oil prices and supply conditions in view of the evolving global situation.
He acknowledged the difficulties being faced by consumers and said the government was aware of the pressure that rising fuel prices were placing on the public.
Ali Pervaiz Malik also said global oil prices had increased by around 90 percent, while domestic petroleum prices had risen by approximately 50 percent.
Pakistan has been facing heightened energy pressures amid the broader regional crisis. Recent reporting has highlighted disruptions to global energy flows and concerns over fuel supplies across South Asia.
