Pakistan Urges Restraint Amid Iran Conflict Escalation Concerns
Pakistan, Oman Push Diplomatic Efforts Over Iran Crisis and Hormuz
ISLAMABAD: (Staff Reporter) – Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has urged all sides involved in the Iran conflict to exercise restraint and work toward de-escalation during a phone conversation with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi on Sunday. According to Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry, the two officials discussed the latest regional developments and stressed the importance of diplomacy as the most effective way to resolve disputes and promote long-term peace and stability.
Meanwhile, Oman has put forward a proposal aimed at securing maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz by establishing two separate shipping corridors. Under the suggested arrangement, a southern route would remain open for international commercial vessels, while ships using a northern corridor would need prior clearance from Iran.

The proposal, discussed during talks in Muscat between Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Omani Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi, includes maintaining free passage without additional charges or transit fees. Both countries agreed to continue technical and political discussions to ensure safe and uninterrupted navigation through the strategically important waterway.
Reports indicate that Araghchi has not yet approved the proposal, saying it requires further examination and consultations in Tehran. He noted that Iran’s senior leadership would make the final decision after reviewing the details.
