PFMA Urges Government to Allow Wheat Imports Immediately
PFMA Calls for Wheat Imports Amid Fears of Production Shortfall Nationwide

ISLAMABAD: (Staff Reporter) – The Pakistan Flour Mills Association (PFMA) has urged the federal government to allow wheat imports, warning that lower domestic production could lead to shortages in the coming months.
PFMA Sindh Chairman Abdul Junaid Aziz said wheat production in Sindh has declined this season and noted that SUPARCO‘s latest assessment also points to a possible shortfall of around two million tonnes in national wheat output.

He called on the government to carefully evaluate the financial implications of importing wheat and, after completing the assessment, grant permission for imports to help stabilize supplies and prevent a potential shortage.
According to the association, timely action would help ensure adequate wheat availability and reduce pressure on the country’s food supply chain.
