Foreign Cyberattack Cripples CDA Online Payment System and Revenue Records Recovery

ISLAMABAD: (Staff Reporter) – Residents have been facing significant difficulties in making payments after the Capital Development Authority’s (CDA) online system was targeted in a cyberattack reportedly carried out by foreign hackers.

According to officials, the attack compromised data related to bills, tax payments and revenue records, disrupting the authority’s digital payment services and affecting its financial operations.

The incident has also resulted in a noticeable decline in the CDA’s revenue collection as citizens have been unable to complete payments through the online portal.

To facilitate the public, the authority has announced that citizens will be allowed to clear their outstanding dues without any penalty within the next month.

Officials said the CDA’s technical team has been working continuously for the past 10 days to restore the affected system. So far, they have successfully recovered around 80 percent of the lost data, while efforts to retrieve the remaining information are still underway.

The CDA expressed confidence that the online payment portal will be fully restored later this month once the data recovery process is completed.
