FIA Busts Placenta Smuggling Ring in Islamabad

FIA Placenta Smuggling Network Dismantled, Five Arrested

Islamabad – (Web Desk) – Pakistan’s Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has busted an FIA placenta smuggling network operating in Islamabad, arresting five suspects including three Chinese nationals and two Pakistanis.

The FIA raided a house in the upscale F-7 sector late Thursday night. Inside, investigators found a fully working facility used to illegally process and dry human placenta.

A second raid was carried out in the E-11 sector, where another similar processing center was found actively operating. Both sites had processing equipment and finished goods on the premises.

According to the FIA, the suspects were collecting human placenta from hospitals in Peshawar, Rawalpindi, and Lahore. The material was then processed and packaged in Islamabad.

The finished products were being exported to Vietnam under the brand name “She Placenta.” To avoid detection, the suspects were reportedly labeling the shipments as sheep organs.

The FIA conducted the operation jointly with the Human Organs Transplant Authority (HOTA). Recovered samples have been sent to PIMS Hospital for medical examination.

A case has been registered against all suspects under the Human Organs and Tissues Transplantation Act 2010. Investigations are ongoing to identify other members of the network.
