ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – Pakistan made an impressive start to their Under-18 Asia Cup 2026 campaign with a convincing 3-0 victory over China in their opening group-stage match at Kakamegahara, Japan.

The tournament, organized by the Asian Hockey Federation, is being held from May 29 to June 6 and features some of Asia’s most promising young hockey players.

Pakistan controlled the match from the outset and took the lead through Usman, who found the net in the sixth minute of the first half. Adeel doubled the advantage five minutes later, scoring in the 11th minute to give Pakistan a comfortable 2-0 lead heading into the break.

The Green Shirts maintained their dominance in the second half, with Yasin adding a third goal in the 56th minute to seal an emphatic victory.

Asnan was named Man of the Match after delivering an outstanding all-round performance that played a key role in Pakistan’s successful start to the tournament.

Following the opening win, Pakistan will face Malaysia in their second group-stage fixture on May 31 before taking on Bangladesh on June 3.

According to the tournament schedule, group-stage matches will conclude on June 1, while the semi-finals and classification matches are set for June 5. The final and third-place playoff will be played on June 6.

Buoyed by their strong opening performance, Pakistan will aim to maintain momentum in the upcoming matches as they target a place in the knockout rounds and a deep run in the competition.
