CDF Asim Munir, Saudi Defence Minister Discuss Makkah Agreement
Pakistan, Saudi Arabia Reaffirm Joint Defence Cooperation in Riyadh
RIYADH: (Special Reporter) – Pakistan’s Field Marshal Asim Munir met Saudi Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman in Riyadh on Friday, with the two sides discussing ways to further strengthen defence cooperation and military ties between the two countries.
According to the Saudi Ministry of Defence, the meeting included discussions on enhancing bilateral defence cooperation and strengthening coordination between the armed forces of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
The two sides also welcomed the outcomes of a recent meeting of military chiefs from countries participating in the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement and reaffirmed their commitment to advancing defence cooperation under the agreement.
Prince Khalid said the discussions also covered recent attacks targeting Makkah and Saudi Arabia’s civilian and economic infrastructure. He added that both sides affirmed the continuation of joint efforts to address such threats within the framework of the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement.
The meeting came after senior military officials from Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Türkiye held talks in Riyadh on Friday. The three countries agreed to deepen military and intelligence cooperation and enhance the integration of defensive capabilities under the agreement.
The Makkah Joint Defence Agreement, signed by Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Türkiye in August, provides for collective defence commitments and calls for expanded military cooperation among the three countries.
