ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – The United States Embassy in Islamabad hosted a FIFA World Cup 2026™ kickoff event, bringing together diplomats, sports officials, athletes, and private sector partners to celebrate the upcoming global tournament.

She welcomed guests including representatives of Pakistan’s sports community and government officials, and described football as a universal language that promotes teamwork, discipline, and shared hope.

The envoy praised collaboration with the Pakistan Football Federation and acknowledged support from private sector partners involved in sports development and manufacturing, including companies contributing to football production in Sialkot.

During her remarks, Baker noted that the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026, to be hosted jointly by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, will be the largest in history, featuring 48 national teams and matches across multiple host cities.

She emphasized that the tournament represents more than a sporting event, calling it an opportunity to strengthen global ties through cultural exchange and people-to-people engagement.
