Muhammad Jawad and Saqib Become Asian MMA Champions with Gold

ISLAMABAD: (Sports Reporter) – Pakistan’s young Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighters have achieved a remarkable milestone at the GAMMA Asian MMA Championship, with Muhammad Jawad Ahmed and Muhammad Saqib winning gold medals in their respective categories.

The championship featured more than 200 athletes from 16 countries, where Pakistani fighters delivered outstanding performances and secured prestigious victories on the international stage.

In the Under-16 54kg category final, Muhammad Jawad Ahmed defeated Kazakhstan’s Zharylkassinov Meirman in a highly competitive bout to claim the gold medal and become the Asian champion.

Meanwhile, in the Under-18 56kg category final, Muhammad Saqib showcased exceptional skill, determination and fighting ability to overcome Thailand’s Changpan Watcharat and secure another gold medal for Pakistan.

Saqib, who previously won a gold medal at the 2024 GAMMA World MMA Championship, further strengthened his reputation as one of Asia’s promising young MMA athletes with this latest achievement.

President of the Pakistan Mixed Martial Arts Federation, Zulfiqar Ali, congratulated both fighters, the coaching staff and the national team, describing the achievement as a proud moment for Pakistan.

He praised the athletes’ dedication, hard work and professional training, saying their success reflected the growing potential of MMA in Pakistan. He added that such international achievements would motivate more young athletes to pursue the sport and represent the country at global competitions.
