Iran Flights Resume 2026: Tehran Airport Opens Again After 56 Days

Iran Flights Resume 2026 — What Travelers Need to Know Right Now

Iran – (Special Correspondent / Web Desk) – Iran flights resume 2026 as Tehran’s Imam Khomeini International Airport welcomes passengers again. This is the first time since the US and Israel attacked Iran two months ago. It is a big moment for travelers and airlines across the region.

Iran’s state TV confirmed flights left for Istanbul, Muscat, and Medina on Saturday. Iran Air also flew its first domestic route from Tehran to Mashhad. More flights to Baku, Najaf, Baghdad, and Doha are coming soon.

Airport officials say eastern Iran will get priority for domestic and transit routes. Cities like Mashhad, Zahedan, Kerman, Yazd, and Birjand will serve as key traffic hubs. Iran is also talking to foreign airlines about rebuilding international routes.

The war shut down most of the Middle East’s airspace. Tens of thousands of travelers were stranded. Dozens of countries had to charter special flights just to bring their people home.

Qatar and the UAE reopened their airspaces within days of the attacks starting on February 28. Flight schedules there have slowly grown since then.

Meanwhile, the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz is creating a serious jet fuel problem. The EU is looking at importing jet fuel from the US. It is also working on new fuel reserve rules to prevent a supply collapse.

The head of the International Energy Agency warned Europe may have only around six weeks of jet fuel left. He said flight cancellations could start soon if supplies do not change.

Germany’s Lufthansa has already acted. The airline announced it will cut 20,000 short-haul flights by October. Rising oil prices and fuel fears are driving that decision.

Iran’s ceasefire with the US remains fragile. Talks between Tehran and Washington are continuing through Pakistan as a go-between. The road to full aviation recovery is still long, but the skies are opening again.
