Pakistan Mediating US Iran Conflict 2026 as Asim Munir Meets Iran FM Araghchi in Islamabad
Pakistan mediating US Iran conflict 2026 gains momentum as Asim Munir and Abbas Araghchi discuss ceasefire and future diplomacy
Islamabad – (Special Correspondent / Web Desk) – Abbas Araghchi met Asim Munir in Islamabad as Pakistan mediating US Iran conflict 2026 continues to gain global attention. The meeting took place on Saturday and focused on regional peace, ceasefire progress, and diplomatic solutions. Mohsin Naqvi and other senior officials also joined the talks.
The Iranian delegation included Kazem Gharibabadi, Reza Amiri Moqadam, and Esmaeil Baqaei. They discussed key regional issues and ways to strengthen cooperation.
Abbas Araghchi arrived in Islamabad late Friday. He carried Iran’s official response to proposals earlier shared by the United States through Pakistan. He was welcomed by Ishaq Dar and senior military leadership.
Before his visit, Araghchi spoke with both Ishaq Dar and Asim Munir. They talked about the ceasefire and the ongoing diplomatic process. His visit comes at a sensitive time, as tensions between United States and Iran remain unresolved.
Pakistani officials said the main purpose of the visit was to deliver Iran’s detailed response after internal discussions. Araghchi also shared on X that his goal is to coordinate with partners and discuss regional developments. He added that neighboring countries remain Iran’s priority.
Meanwhile, the United States is also stepping up efforts. Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are expected in Islamabad for another round of talks with Iranian representatives. These discussions are being facilitated by Pakistan.
According to the White House, the US is open to diplomacy and has seen some positive signals from Iran. Officials hope that more progress will be made in the coming days.
The current phase of talks follows earlier negotiations held in Islamabad on April 11 and 12. Although no agreement was reached, both sides agreed to continue dialogue. Since then, Pakistan has played a key role in keeping communication open.
A ceasefire, first arranged earlier this month, is still in place but remains uncertain. Major issues like nuclear limits, naval concerns, and timing of agreements are yet to be resolved.
Officials in Islamabad say the situation is still changing. However, Pakistan continues its efforts to bridge the gap and support peaceful solutions between both sides.
