Hundreds of Firefighters Battle Japan Forest Blazes After Caused Wildfire in Iwate Japan 2026

Japan – (Web Desk) – Hundreds of firefighters are fighting a strong forest fire in what caused wildfire in Iwate Japan 2026 story now trending across the world. The fire started three days ago in Iwate Prefecture and is still spreading in dry mountain areas.

More than 3,200 people have been asked to leave their homes for safety. The fire has already burned around 700 hectares of forest. Thick smoke filled the air and could even be smelled from 30 kilometers away.

Near the town of Otsuchi, helicopters were seen dropping water again and again. Fire trucks also worked close to homes to stop the flames from spreading further.

Over 1,300 firefighters are on the ground. They are supported by helicopters and troops from the Japan Self-Defence Forces. Their goal is to control the fire as quickly as possible.

At least eight buildings have already burned. Luckily, all residents left in time and no deaths have been reported so far. Officials say they are doing everything they can and will share updates soon.

A local man told NHK that he hopes for rain, as it could help stop the fire faster.

Experts say dry winters are making wildfires more common in Japan. A similar fire in Ofunato last year was one of the worst in decades. Scientists also warn that climate change is making such disasters stronger and more frequent.
