Toronto hijab woman attacked bus Islamophobic incident Scarborough sparks hate crime concerns

A disturbing case of alleged Islamophobia on a Scarborough bus is under active investigation by Toronto police Hate Crime Unit

Toronto – (Web Desk) – A Toronto hijab woman attacked bus Islamophobic incident Scarborough has raised serious concern across Canada after a Muslim woman wearing a hijab was allegedly targeted on a public bus in Toronto.

Toronto Police say the incident happened in Scarborough on a bus operated by Durham Region Transit. Their Hate Crime Unit is now investigating the case.

A video shared on social media shows a man shouting at the woman. He uses Islamophobic slurs and calls her a “terrorist.” The man then appears to stand up and try to kick her. It is still not clear if any physical contact happened or if she was injured.

Passengers on the bus quickly stepped in. One woman, also wearing a hijab, confronted the suspect and told him to stop. Her brave action has been widely praised online.

Police say the suspect left the bus after the incident. No identity has been confirmed yet. Officers are asking the public to share any information or video evidence.

The National Council of Canadian Muslims (NCCM) strongly condemned the incident. They said it reflects rising Islamophobia and called for stronger protection for Muslim communities.

Authorities have stressed that public transport must remain safe for everyone. The investigation is still ongoing.
