Umme Rubab Chandio’s Family Murder Case Ends With Acquittals
High-Profile Triple Murder Case in Dadu Concludes With Acquittal
DADU: (Web Desk) – A local court in Dadu on Monday acquitted all accused in the high-profile triple murder case involving the father, grandfather, and uncle of Umme Rubab Chandio, ending a seven-year-long trial.
The Model Criminal Court had reserved its verdict on February 27, after more than 400 hearings over several years in a case that had captured national attention.
The triple murder occurred several years ago in Mehar, allegedly linked to a dispute over forming a Tamandar Council against the tribal chieftain system. Eight people were accused, including members of the Sindh Assembly affiliated with the Pakistan People’s Party — Sardar Ahmed Chandio, his brother Burhan Khan Chandio — and former SHO Karim Bux Chandio. Four accused were in jail, while four were out on bail.
Court Declares Case Against Babar Azam Null and Void
Over the years, the case moved between multiple courts, including the Anti-Terrorism Court in Naushahro Feroze, Sukkur, and Mirpur Mathelo, before reaching the Sessions Court in Dadu. A 2020 Sindh Police inquiry had given the accused assembly members a clean chit, citing insufficient evidence.
After the verdict, Umme Rubab Chandio told the media that while the court decision had been delivered, the public already knew the truth. She emphasized that “all fingers are not equal” and announced plans to challenge the verdict in the High Court and the Supreme Court.
Due to the sensitive nature of the case, extraordinary security measures were in place. Section 144 was imposed across the district, banning gatherings of more than five people. More than 450 police personnel, including DSPs, SHOs, and lady officers, were deployed, while rescue teams, fire brigade units, and special search teams were kept on high alert. Citizens were advised to take alternate routes to avoid disruption.
