Sanju Samson Leads India to Massive Total Against England in T20 World Cup Semi-Final

Sanju Samson’s brilliant 89-run knock helped India post a huge 253/7 against England in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 semi-final at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, on Thursday.

England captain Harry Brook’s decision to field first did not pay off. India’s innings started with a small hiccup as opener Abhishek Sharma was dismissed for nine by Will Jacks in the second over, leaving India at 20/1.

Ishan Kishan and Samson then rebuilt the innings with a 97-run partnership for the second wicket off 44 balls. Kishan contributed a quick 39 from 18 deliveries before Adil Rashid dismissed him. Samson continued to shine, adding 43 runs with Shivam Dube for the third wicket before falling to Jacks in the 14th over.

Samson’s knock included seven sixes and eight fours, making him the top-scorer for India. Captain Suryakumar Yadav followed but could only manage 11 runs before being stumped by Adil Rashid.

Dube and Hardik Pandya steadied the innings, adding 32 runs for the fifth wicket until Dube was run out on a direct hit from Brook. Dube’s 43 from 25 balls featured four sixes and a four.
