Khazina Banda Police Checkpost Attack Leaves Seven Officers Martyred in Hangu

KP Hangu – (Staff Reporter/Web Desk) – A deadly assault on the Khazina Banda police checkpost has shaken Hangu district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, leaving at least seven police officers dead. Among the martyred was a deputy superintendent of police, according to local authorities.

District Police Officer Tariq Habib shared the tragic update on Wednesday. He confirmed that gunmen struck the checkpost in a sudden and violent raid.

Twenty-two other police personnel also sustained injuries during the attack. This group included DSP Mujahid Hussain, who was among the wounded.

Police did not stay silent for long. Officers on duty fought back hard against the attackers.

Their response proved effective. Eight terrorists were killed during the exchange of gunfire.

Six more attackers suffered injuries as the fighting continued. Authorities say the situation remains under close watch.

According to their statement, security forces eliminated 32 terrorists. These operations took place across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan within a single day.

The ISPR described these militants as backed by India. This claim adds another layer to the region’s complex security challenges.

Recent data paints a troubling picture for both provinces. A report by the Centre for Research and Security Studies highlights rising bloodshed.

The CRSS findings cover the second quarter of 2026. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa emerged as the worst-affected region during this period.

Together, KP and Balochistan accounted for nearly all violence-related deaths nationwide. The two provinces made up about 96 percent of total fatalities.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa alone recorded 475 deaths, representing over 61 percent of the toll. Balochistan followed with 265 fatalities, making up roughly 34 percent.

Incident numbers tell a similar story. KP witnessed 151 violent incidents, the highest share at 57 percent.

Balochistan came next with 94 recorded incidents. This accounted for about 35 percent of all reported violence during the quarter.

These figures show a clear pattern. Both provinces remain the primary battlegrounds in Pakistan’s ongoing fight against militancy.

For families in Hangu, the numbers carry deeper weight. Each statistic represents a real loss and a community left grieving.
