Addressing reporters shortly after preliminary results confirmed Lee’s victory, Kim said, “I will humbly accept the choice of the people. Congratulations to the elected candidate Lee Jae-myung.”
The concession marks the end of a closely watched and hard-fought campaign, with voter turnout reflecting strong public interest in the country’s political direction. Lee Jae-myung, representing the ruling Democratic Party, is set to become South Korea’s next president.
