Section 144 Enforced to Ensure Public Safety During New Year Celebrations
KARACHi: Karachi Commissioner has imposed Section 144 in the city for two days, effective from December 31, 2024, to January 1, 2025.
A notification issued by the commissioner prohibits aerial firing and fireworks during New Year celebrations. Strict legal action will be taken against those violating the directives.
The enforcement of Section 144 aims to ensure public safety and maintain law and order during the New Year festivities.

In light of the New Year celebrations, the Karachi Traffic Police have unveiled a detailed traffic plan.
This follows the earlier issuance of Section 144, which will remain in effect for two days, from December 31 to January 1, 2025, as a precautionary measure to maintain law and order.
The traffic advisory emphasized the importance of carrying original identification documents, as vehicles will be allowed to proceed only upon verification of these documents.
The authorities have urged all road users to comply with the instructions to avoid any inconvenience.
In addition to these traffic measures, Karachi’s Police Chief, Javed Alam Odhu, issued a stern warning against aerial firing during the New Year celebrations. He emphasized that strict action would be taken against individuals engaging in such activities, and cases of attempted murder would be filed against those involved in firing into the air
