Polio Resurgence: Two New Cases Reported in Pakistan

Peshawar-Pakistan’s battle against polio has hit a setback with two new cases reported, bringing the total number of polio-infected children this year to 52. This surge in cases underscores the challenges faced by the country in its efforts to eradicate the disease

The latest victims are a one-and-a-half-year-old boy and a three-year-old girl from Daraz Nanda tehsil in Dera Ismail Khan. Despite ongoing vaccination drives, this development highlights the persistent challenge in eradicating the virus.

Region-wise, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has reported 13 cases, Balochistan 24, Sindh 13, while Punjab and Islamabad have each documented one case so far.

Health authorities are urging intensified vaccination campaigns and community engagement to prevent further spread and protect vulnerable children.
