JEDDAH: Saudi Arabian authorities have banned 20 automakers from importing vehicles into the kingdom after they failed to submit a 2024 supply plan within the deadline, local media reported.
The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization and the Saudi Ports Authority, also known as Mawani, have banned products from 20 carmakers. The decision was taken after the automakers failed to submit their supply plan for the current year 2024 within the stipulated time.
Until these automakers submit their supply plans for 2024 — which they cannot submit until later this year — Saudi car dealers are barred from importing new light vehicles from these manufacturers, weighing no more than 3.5 tons. will be temporarily banned.

Officials maintained that every carmaker must register its vehicle supply plans in accordance with data registration, energy efficiency cards and technical regulations for tires.
