Major police raids in Islamabad and Punjab lead to 61 arrests, including illegal Afghan nationals

Islamabad – (Web Desk) – Around 61 suspicious people, including several Afghan nationals, were arrested during search operations in Islamabad and different cities of Punjab. These operations were carried out by intelligence agencies, Elite Force, Dolphin Force, and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD).

The arrested group included some known criminals and eight Afghan nationals staying illegally. A total of 408 law enforcement personnel took part in the operations. Teams from Shahzad Town Police Station in Islamabad and Civil Lines Police Station joined the efforts.

Police searched homes, hotels, markets, and other key areas. During these operations, they also recovered weapons and narcotics from the suspects.

The operations are being carried out under tenancy act and other relevant laws. Various motorcycles and cars were checked during the operations.

Officials said that 31 people were arrested from Rawalpindi, out of which 20 were living without a rent agreement, seven without police verification, and two were targeted offenders.

The LAEs also recovered 1610 grams of hashish and one 30 bore pistol from their possession.

Officials further revealed that three proclaimed offenders were arrested from Murree. They said that these operations would continue till the complete elimination of illegal Afghans and criminals.
