YouTube Shuts Down Tenet Media Channel Following US Indictment. On Thursday, YouTube announced it is shutting down the Tenet Media channel, along with four other channels managed by Lauren Chen, the owner of Tenet Media. This action follows an indictment from the U.S. Department of Justice. The indictment, filed on Wednesday, accuses two employees of the Russian state media network RT of money laundering. The charges allege they were involved in a scheme to hire an American firm to create online content aimed at influencing the 2024 presidential election.

Justice Department officials revealed that the two employees used shell companies and fictitious identities to funnel $10 million to a Tennessee company, which then produced online videos designed to exacerbate political divisions in the United States. While the indictment does not specify the company by name, the details in the court filings align closely with Tenet Media, a Nashville-based firm that has uploaded nearly 2,000 videos to YouTube in under a year.
