Xi Trump Hold Crucial Beijing Talks Over Taiwan

Xi and Trump Discuss Taiwan Trade During Beijing Summit Talks

BEIJING: (Web Desk) – Chinese President Xi Jinping urged stronger cooperation with US President Donald Trump during their meeting in Beijing on Thursday, saying both nations should act as partners rather than competitors. Xi described a stable China-US relationship as beneficial for global stability and welcomed Trump on his first China visit since 2017, noting that the world is facing a critical turning point.

During the talks, Xi also stressed that Taiwan remains the most sensitive issue between Beijing and Washington. According to Chinese state media, he warned that mishandling the Taiwan question could push both countries toward confrontation and seriously damage bilateral relations.

Trump received a grand state welcome at Beijing’s Great Hall of the People, where Xi greeted him with a handshake before an official ceremony featuring military honors, national anthems, and schoolchildren waving Chinese and American flags. Senior US officials, including Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, joined the delegation despite Rubio’s long history of criticism toward Beijing.

The two leaders are expected to discuss major issues including trade tensions, Taiwan, Iran, artificial intelligence competition, and rare earth exports. Trump is also seeking stronger economic agreements involving agriculture and aviation while encouraging China to expand opportunities for American businesses.

Trump arrived in Beijing aboard Air Force One alongside leading American business figures such as Elon Musk and Jensen Huang. The visit marks the first trip by a US president to China in nearly a decade and comes at a time of rising geopolitical and economic rivalry between the two powers.
