Wu Yize Beats Allen Reaches Snooker World Final

Wu Yize Stuns Allen To Reach World Snooker Championship Final

BEIJING: (Web Desk) – China’s Wu Yize produced a stunning comeback to edge past Mark Allen 17-16 in a gripping semi-final at the World Snooker Championship. The 22-year-old fought back from the brink of defeat to book his place in the final at Crucible Theatre.

Allen appeared set for victory when he led 16-15, but a costly miss on the final black allowed Wu to level the match. In the deciding frame, both players had chances, but Wu held his nerve, delivering a composed clearance to seal a dramatic win and reach his first world final.

Earlier, Allen had looked in control at 16-14 and was closing in on the title match, but missed opportunities proved decisive. Wu capitalized with a crucial break under pressure to keep his hopes alive before forcing the match into a decider.

Wu will now face Shaun Murphy, who defeated John Higgins 17-15 in another tense semi-final. Murphy, a former world champion, produced a strong performance to reach his fifth final and move one step closer to a second title.

Reflecting on his victory, Wu admitted he was overwhelmed by nerves but remained determined. He also acknowledged the challenge ahead, noting Murphy’s impressive form throughout the tournament. Meanwhile, Allen expressed disappointment over missed chances, particularly the crucial black, admitting that pressure played a role in his defeat.

Murphy, who last won the title in 2005, will aim to end his long wait for another championship, while Wu looks to follow compatriot Zhao Xintong and bring consecutive world titles to China. The best-of-35 final begins Sunday.
