Usman Khan & Usama Mir Shine as Multan Sultans Extend Lahore Qalandars’ Misery

Multan Sultans Clinch Victory with Dominant Performance Against Lahore Qalandars in HBL PSL 9.

Lahore: In a thrilling encounter at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, Multan Sultans emerged victorious with a commanding 60-run win over Lahore Qalandars in the ongoing HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) 9. The match witnessed a stellar display of cricketing prowess from both teams, with Multan Sultans showcasing exceptional batting and bowling performances to secure their fifth win in the tournament.

Usman Khan’s brilliant batting display earned him the title of Player of the Match as he led the charge with a phenomenal innings of 96 runs. His partnership with Reeza Hendricks laid a solid foundation for Multan Sultans, with the duo amassing 70 runs for the second wicket. Despite Hendricks’ departure for a well-made 40, Usman Khan continued to dominate the opposition’s bowling attack, narrowly missing out on a century.

Contributions from Iftikhar Ahmed, who remained unbeaten with a blistering 40 off just 18 balls, propelled Multan Sultans to an imposing total of 214-4 in their allotted 20 overs. Shaheen Shah Afridi and Carlos Brathwaite picked up crucial wickets for Lahore Qalandars, but their efforts were overshadowed by the relentless onslaught from Multan Sultans’ batsmen.

In response, Lahore Qalandars’ innings got off to a promising start with Sahibzada Farhan and Fakhar Zaman notching up 50 runs in the opening five overs. However, their momentum was short-lived as the introduction of Multan Sultans’ bowlers turned the tide in favor of the visitors. Usama Mir’s sensational six-wicket haul, which included a historic hat-trick, decimated Lahore Qalandars’ batting lineup and restricted them to 154 all out in 17 overs.

With this win, Multan Sultans strengthened their position in the tournament, while Lahore Qalandars faced their sixth consecutive defeat in HBL PSL 9. The match showcased the spirit of competitive cricket and highlighted the exceptional talent on display in the league, providing fans with an enthralling spectacle of T20 cricket.
