Global UGRAD Program to Provide Pakistani Students with Academic and Cultural Exchange Opportunities

ISLAMABAD: The U.S. government has awarded scholarships to 108 Pakistani undergraduate students under the prestigious Global Undergraduate Exchange (Global UGRAD) Program for the 2024-25 academic year. This program, administered by the United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP), offers students an exceptional opportunity to study for one semester at a U.S. university or college, enhancing their educational experience through non-degree coursework.

Out of the 108 scholarship recipients, 54 students are set to embark on their academic journey, representing a diverse group of young minds from across Pakistan. The Global UGRAD Program aims to foster mutual understanding between the U.S. and Pakistan by providing these students with a chance to experience life and education in the United States, while also sharing their unique perspectives and culture.

During an event in Islamabad, Acting Deputy Chief of Mission and Minister Counselor for Public Diplomacy, Lisa Swenarski, along with Mazhar Qayyum Awan, Director of Alumni Affairs at USEFP, congratulated the students on their selection. “This program represents not only an academic opportunity but also a chance to build bridges between our nations,” said Swenarski, highlighting the importance of educational exchange in strengthening bilateral ties.

The students will join a vibrant community of Global UGRAD participants, where they will have access to world-class facilities and academic resources. In addition to their studies, the program encourages cultural exchange and community engagement, ensuring that participants gain a well-rounded global perspective.
