COAS Vows to Strengthen Pakistan–US Ties

Rawalpindi – A high-level delegation of the United States Congress, led by Honourable Jack Bergman and including Honourable Thomas Souzzi and Honourable Jonathan Jackson, met with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), in Rawalpindi on Sunday.

The meeting focused on a wide array of matters of mutual interest, with a particular emphasis on regional security and defence cooperation. Both sides reaffirmed the importance of sustained and meaningful engagement rooted in mutual respect, shared values, and strategic convergence.

The U.S. lawmakers lauded the Pakistan Armed Forces for their critical role in the fight against terrorism and acknowledged Pakistan’s consistent efforts toward promoting peace and stability in the region. They also praised the resilience of the Pakistani people and the nation’s growing strategic potential.

The visiting delegation emphasized their commitment to upholding Pakistan’s sovereignty and expressed a strong desire to enhance broad-based cooperation between the two countries, especially in the fields of security, trade, investment, and economic growth.

General Asim Munir welcomed the delegation’s visit and reaffirmed Pakistan’s intention to further strengthen and diversify its long-standing relationship with the United States in a way that is mutually beneficial and aligned with both nations’ interests.

On the occasion, Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed to enhance training collaboration, particularly in the field of Information Technology, marking a new chapter in bilateral engagement.
