Tim Southee Ends Test Career with Victory Against England

Southee announced his retirement, describing it as a privilege to have represented New Zealand for 18 years.

Islamabad: New Zealand’s fast bowler Tim Southee has officially ended his Test career with a victory in the final Test match against England. The 35-year-old, who has been one of New Zealand’s most iconic bowlers, claimed two wickets in his final Test appearance, bringing his career tally to 391 wickets across 107 Test matches.

Southee has had a distinguished international career, playing not only in Tests but also in 161 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and 123 T20 matches. He has also served as the captain of New Zealand in all three formats, leading the team with distinction over the years.

In a heartfelt statement last month, Southee announced his retirement, describing it as a privilege to have represented New Zealand for 18 years. “Playing for my country has always been a dream, and to do it for 18 years has been an absolute honor,” he said, reflecting on his remarkable journey in international cricket.

While his Test career has come to a close, Southee will remain available for selection in case New Zealand qualifies for the ICC World Test Championship final, offering the team his experience and leadership in the crucial match.
