Supreme Court Fixes September 16 Hearing on Imran Khan Contempt Plea

ISLAMABAD: (Court Reporter) – The Supreme Court has scheduled September 16 for the hearing of a contempt petition filed by Uzma Khan, sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan.

The petition seeks contempt proceedings over an alleged violation of the court’s August 18 order, which concerned Imran Khan’s medical treatment and a possible transfer to hospital.

According to Uzma Khan’s petition, Imran Khan was not shifted to Shifa Hospital despite the court’s directions. The petitioner has called for legal action against the officials allegedly responsible for failing to comply with the order.

During the proceedings, the Supreme Court noted that 94 contempt petitions are currently pending before the court. It observed that Uzma Khan’s petition could not be scheduled for an earlier date under the applicable listing policy.

The court further clarified that the main case has been adjourned until September 16, and the contempt petition will consequently be taken up alongside the main matter on the same date.

Uzma Khan’s petition maintains that officials responsible for non-compliance with the court’s directions should be held accountable under the law.

The September 16 hearing is therefore expected to address both the main case and the related contempt plea concerning the implementation of the August 18 order.
