MUMBAI: (Showbiz Desk) – The ongoing marital dispute between Indian actor Govinda and his wife Sunita Ahuja appears to be moving toward a resolution, with reports claiming that Sunita has withdrawn the divorce petition she had filed against the actor.
Sunita was recently seen outside Mumbai’s Bandra Family Court with her son, Yashvardhan Ahuja, and their lawyer, prompting speculation about the purpose of her visit.
When approached by paparazzi outside the court, Sunita, 59, chose not to discuss the matter and instead jokingly said they had come to celebrate a birthday.
“Birthday manane aaye hai,” she said before leaving.
Govinda’s manager Shashi Sinha later told HT City that Sunita had visited the court to withdraw the divorce petition she filed against Govinda on December 5, 2024.
According to reports, the petition was filed under the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955, and included allegations of adultery, cruelty and desertion.
Commenting on Sunita’s court visit, Sinha said there was no reason for concern and described the withdrawal of the case as encouraging news.
“Sunita ji ne apna case wapas liya hai. Yeh toh khush hone ki baat hai,” he said.
Addressing speculation surrounding Sunita’s appearance outside the court, Sinha acknowledged that she appeared upset but maintained that things between the couple were now fine.
The reported withdrawal comes shortly after the couple publicly exchanged accusations, adding to speculation about the state of their marriage.
Sunita, who is reportedly set to appear on Lock Upp 2, had recently made comments about Govinda and alleged that he was involved in an extramarital relationship with Komal Rani Swarnka. She also referred to him as a “sugar daddy.”
Govinda subsequently responded to reporters, saying Sunita should know her limits and alleging that she had used inappropriate language against him.
The latest development has nevertheless raised hopes that the long-running dispute may be moving toward a settlement.
Govinda and Sunita married in March 1987 and are approaching four decades together.
The couple have two children. Their daughter, Tina Ahuja, was born in 1989, while their son, Yashvardhan Ahuja, was born in 1997.
