TRINIDAD: (Sports Desk) – Pakistan produced a commanding batting display on the second day of the first Test against the West Indies, reaching 199 for 3 in reply to the hosts’ first-innings total of 311 at the Brian Lara Stadium on Sunday.

Former captain Shan Masood remained unbeaten on 88, anchoring Pakistan’s innings with a composed knock after opener Imam-ul-Haq contributed 63. The pair shared a crucial 155-run partnership for the second wicket after the early dismissal of Azan Awais.

Earlier, Pakistan’s bowlers wrapped up the West Indies innings for 311, with Mohammad Ali claiming 4 wickets for 50 runs. Khurram Shahzad provided an early breakthrough by dismissing Kavem Hodge for 84, while Shai Hope top-scored for the hosts with 92 before falling leg-before to Mohammad Ali.

West Indies pacers Shamar Joseph and Jayden Seales struck in the final session, removing Imam-ul-Haq and Babar Azam, who was dismissed shortly before bad light ended play.

At stumps, Pakistan trailed by 112 runs with Shan Masood and Salman Ali Agha at the crease, putting the visitors in a strong position heading into the third day of the opening Test.
