PM Shehbaz Welcomes Gauth AI Initiative to Support Teachers, Students

Kohan said the launch of Gauth AI in Pakistan represented another step towards supporting education through technology.

ISLAMABAD: (Staff Reporter) – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday welcomed an initiative by Gauth AI to support teachers and students in Pakistan through artificial intelligence (AI), reaffirming the government’s commitment to improving the quality of education and expanding learning opportunities across the country.

Addressing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signing ceremony between the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training and Gauth AI in Islamabad, the prime minister termed the agreement an important step towards promoting technology-driven education. He also welcomed the company’s decision to provide free subscriptions to Pakistani teachers and students.

Under the initiative, Gauth AI will provide 4,000 free subscriptions, including 1,000 for teachers associated with the government’s Daanish Schools programme. The initiative also includes 180 free subscriptions for local students, according to the details shared at the ceremony.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the government would provide all possible resources and facilities to Daanish Schools, describing them as an important initiative offering free education to students. He stressed that the government remained committed to supporting these institutions and creating better educational opportunities for the younger generation.

Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja said the initiative reflected the prime minister’s vision of promoting information technology-led development and introducing modern digital solutions in the education sector.

She said TikTok had made its AI technology available in Pakistan, while the introduction of paid versions of Gauth AI would make the country the first after the United States to receive the facility.

Maria Kohan, Regional Director of Global Public Policy at ByteDance Ltd, said technology could encourage creativity, expand opportunities and transform lives, particularly in education.

She highlighted ByteDance’s efforts to promote educational awareness through TikTok, including its dedicated science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) feed launched in Pakistan in collaboration with the relevant government ministries.

Kohan said the launch of Gauth AI in Pakistan represented another step towards supporting education through technology. She added that the company’s agreement with the government would provide teachers across the country with access to AI-powered tools designed to strengthen teaching and improve students’ learning experiences.

Gauth is an AI-powered educational platform that offers step-by-step explanations, personalised tutoring and interactive study tools to help students understand academic concepts.

The initiative is expected to expand access to digital learning resources for teachers and students, supporting efforts to modernise Pakistan’s education system and improve learning outcomes.
