Australia, New Zealand Attract 14 Bids for T20 World Cup
Reports indicate that the final list of host venues will be determined under ICC guidelines
MELBOURNE: (Sports Reporter) – Fourteen cities from Australia and New Zealand have officially submitted bids to host matches during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2028, according to local media reports.
The tournament will be jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand and is scheduled to be played across October and November 2028. Organisers had invited interested cities to apply for hosting rights, drawing strong interest from across both nations.
Despite the high number of applications, only eight to ten venues are expected to be selected for the tournament. As a result, several cities that submitted bids are likely to miss out on hosting matches.
Reports indicate that the final list of host venues will be determined under ICC guidelines, with organisers aiming to keep the tournament schedule compact to simplify travel, logistics, and fixture management across both countries. A reduced number of host cities is also expected to make travel easier for teams, officials, and supporters.
According to Australian media, the Melbourne Cricket Ground is currently expected to stage the final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2028.
