Senator Rasheed says Munir’s merit proved right against Khan’s favoritism

Rasheed Praises Pakistan's Diplomacy, Economy and Leadership Under Shehbaz Sharif

Pervaiz Rasheed  – (Web Desk) – Senior Senator Pervaiz Rasheed spoke out on Wednesday, claiming that former Prime Minister Imran Khan had attempted to handpick his preferred candidate to continue as army chief. However, he noted that the merit-based appointment of Field Marshal Asim Munir as Chief of Defence Forces has ultimately proven the right decision.

Addressing the Senate, Rasheed highlighted that Pakistan currently holds a strong standing on the world stage, with global leaders expressing admiration for the country’s progress.

He also looked back at former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s time in power, pointing out that despite a thriving economy during that period, his government was continuously challenged by street agitation and public protests.

Rasheed added that Pakistan, which helped mediate between the US and Iran, has also acted as a mediator between the US and China.

He said the country’s role in diplomacy reflects its longstanding contribution to regional and global peace, and he congratulated Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, and Field Marshal Asim Munir for their efforts.

He noted that the world continues to recognise the Pakistani leadership’s capability, highlighting the country’s efforts in preventing conflict and promoting peace.

Rasheed concluded on a lighter note, saying that after recent unseasonal rains, today’s clear skies symbolise joy and optimism.
