Pakistan Junior Hockey Team Storms Into Asia Cup Semi-Finals

KUALA LUMPUR: (Sports Desk) – Pakistan’s junior hockey team secured a place in the semi-finals of the Men’s Junior Asia Cup 2026 after defeating Malaysia 5-2 in a crucial Pool B encounter.

The victory marked Pakistan’s third consecutive win in the tournament, with the team remaining unbeaten in the competition.

Malaysia made a strong start, taking the lead in the ninth minute through Muhammad Saleh. Pakistan, however, responded impressively after the interval and completely changed the course of the match.

Nadeem Khan opened Pakistan’s scoring in the 32nd minute to level the contest at 1-1. Four minutes later, Abdullah Sami Rana put Pakistan ahead for the first time.

Pakistan then produced a stunning scoring burst. Waleed Rana struck twice in quick succession in the 39th and 40th minutes, before Ali Hamza added another goal in the 41st minute to give Pakistan a commanding 5-1 advantage.

Malaysia managed to reduce the deficit in the 54th minute when Gunaseeran Dhiresh scored, but Pakistan held firm for the remainder of the match to seal a convincing 5-2 victory.

Ali Hamza was named Player of the Match for his impressive contribution to Pakistan’s dominant second-half display.

Pakistan Hockey Federation President Mohiuddin Ahmed Wani congratulated the players and team management on the victory and expressed confidence that the junior side would maintain its strong form and consistency in the matches ahead.

With three wins from three matches, Pakistan now enter the knockout stage with considerable momentum and remain unbeaten in their campaign.
