Sacrificed Politics for State, Will Present One-Year Performance Tomorrow: Atta Tarar

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar, addressed a press conference where he praised the government’s efforts in stabilizing the economy, reducing inflation, and improving the country’s global standing. Tarar emphasized that the government made significant sacrifices in politics for the greater good of the nation and stressed that the people of Pakistan desired prosperity, not division.

The Minister said, “We sacrificed our politics to save the state and made decisions in the national interest. People want prosperity, not chaos. Those who spoke about Pakistan defaulting are now themselves embroiled in instability.” He further added that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will present the government’s one-year performance to the nation in the coming days.

Tarar highlighted the government’s achievements, stating that inflation had reached its lowest level in nine years, largely due to the government’s measures. He noted that inflation, which stood at 23.1% in the same month last year, has now reduced to 1.5%, the lowest in nine years. He also pointed out that the interest rate has decreased to 12%, and the stock market continues to set new records. These accomplishments are a testament to the government’s strong economic policies.

The Minister also reflected on the country’s improved international relations, saying that under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s leadership, Pakistan’s global standing has been elevated. He highlighted successful diplomatic visits, including the visit of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the recognition of Pakistan’s growing importance in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). He also mentioned the successful hosting of the Champions Trophy matches in Pakistan and the country’s recent election to the United Nations Security Council with record votes.

Further, Tarar discussed the success of Pakistan’s economic recovery, noting the significant investments from foreign countries, including a $2 billion investment from Azerbaijan and various agreements signed during the visit of the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi. He also lauded the efforts of Pakistan’s military leadership, particularly General Asim Munir, for their role in the country’s economic recovery.

Minister Tarar announced the government’s plan for a Ramadan package worth Rs. 20 billion, three times more than the previous year, to support up to two crore people through digital wallets. He expressed satisfaction with improvements in health, education, and other sectors, attributing the positive outcomes to teamwork and hard work.

He also addressed the failures of the opposition, criticizing them for their lack of tangible achievements in areas such as healthcare, education, and infrastructure. Tarar said that while opposition parties, including PTI, only focused on hollow slogans, the current government has delivered concrete results.

“The previous government failed to deliver basic services like healthcare and education. We are proud of our achievements, and with Allah’s grace, Pakistan is moving from stability to growth,” he added.

Tarar concluded by saying that Pakistan’s economy is showing positive indicators, including a surplus in the current account, increased exports, and a 32% rise in IT exports. He expressed confidence that the country’s economic journey towards growth will continue, with stability firmly in place.
